You said it, Holy Schnitz! If you're not up on what all the kids are talkin about these days, it's a bunch of schnitz - or, dried apples to be specific. This was always one of our favorite sausages to make, and we usually only keep it around until we're done cooking the maple sap into syrup (about mid March). This one is perfect for breakfast, or even second breakfast. I mean, you could even fry it up with some bread for elevensies!
1 lb pack, 4 patties per pack
North Mountain Pastures is a small family farm dedicated to producing great food using ecologically sound production practices. We farm on 84 acres in Perry County, Pennsylvania, in a way that heals the land, nourishes people, and treats animals with respect. Worried you don't know how to cook? Here's the thing, the quality of your ingredients is sort of like a cheat code for cooking. Your dish is only as good as your weakest ingredient. Grab some fresh produce, a good NMP sausage, and some potatoes, rice or polenta...you got a meal!
I find myself using this sausage to anchor warm salads of spinach or kale with roasted squash and onion and leftover rice. Last time I tossed in some quartered chestnuts. Yummy.
I'm so glad we bought twice the amount we had originally planned. Once you have these once, you just have to have them again!
As always, wonderful, flavorful, a delight with our omelets!
I bought 2, one to taste before sharing the second with the grandkids. It cooked easily and was very tasty - thank you! I prefer a less sweet, but this was nice - not overly too sweet. I know they will love it and plan to make it the next time they are here.
