Brooded indoors as small peeps, these turkeys have been raised outdoors since they were 3 weeks old. They are given permanent access to fresh pasture, and supplemented with a non-GMO ration of corn, soy and oats with an organic mineral. Typically, we'll fulfill your turkey in the size range selected, unless we're out of birds in that size, then we'll contact you before fulfilling and charging the next size up or down.
If you want to pick up a frozen turkey in person, contact us at farm@northmountainpastures.com

North Mountain Pastures is a small family farm dedicated to producing great food using ecologically sound production practices. We farm on 84 acres in Perry County, Pennsylvania, in a way that heals the land, nourishes people, and treats animals with respect. This means animals are naturally raised outdoors, on grass or in carefully managed woodlots, and fed only non-GMO grain. We don’t use hormones, antibiotics, or other chemicals to medicate livestock.
Worried you don't know how to cook? Here's the thing, the quality of your ingredients is sort of like a cheat code for cooking. Your dish is only as good as your weakest ingredient. Grab some fresh produce, a good NMP sausage, and some potatoes, rice or polenta...you got a meal!
For many of our Thanksgiving guests, turkey is referred to as the tofu of meats. A meat that is really just a delivery system for all the other good things on the table. A fork full of turkey so you can get wonderful mash potatoes and cranberry sauce into your mouth, but not this Thanksgiving. This year we had a North Mountain Pastures Turkey and everyone at the gathering said it was the best turkey they have ever tasted. "It is so moist", "so flavorful", "so wonderful" and on and on. Thank you for delivering such a wonderful turkey to us way up here in Alaska! We are looking forward to ordering another one for all our holiday parties!!! Always grateful, Sean
This was my second year getting my turkey from NMP. It has become an official Thanksgiving tradition because it is easily the best turkey I've ever had. We had this one shipped to us frozen and it thawed easily in a matter of days and I used a simple dry rub on it. Fresh, juicy, and golden brown; the bird melts in your mouth like cotton candy. And we had a ton of leftovers so it's like being enrolled in the jelly of the month club by your cheap, lowlife boss- the gift that keeps on giving.
I've had alot of Thanksgiving turkeys, mostly from a super market. The 17 pound bird from NMP was fresh, juicy, and had loads of flavor from soaking up the NMP brine. Store bought turkeys don't compare.
Came the day it was expected nicely frozen and well packed. Cooked up to a wonderful centerpiece of the table. This one seemed easier to cook , maybe it is more forgiving than a Butterball but every piece was juicy and fantastic. Definitely get one next year.
For the 2020 Thanksgiving Day Dinner,I was blessed to have a North Mountain turkey delivered to my door, 2400 miles from Perry county. The bird arrived still frozen and perfectly packaged. I chose to fry the bird in an outdoor fryer kettle(beer keg). It was dry rubbed and injected and fully cooked in 51 minutes. The result was a beautiful, moist, tasty turkey. I anxiously await the next holiday shipment. I can’t recommend enough to any cook seeking a quality poultry product. Thanks NMP.
